The Grand Avenue Festival, produced by the Grand Avenue Members Assoc. (GAMA), is a non-traditional walking Festival and will be combined this year with the popular Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts (PAPA) on November 8th, from 11am – 9pm! There are lots of opportunities for creative community involvement, as well as ways to utilize recyclables & those craft supplies, clothing, & misc. stuff you have sitting around the house but can’t quite throw away!
You can recycle/enhance your halloween costumes for the PAPA Parade (or if you participate in the All Souls Procession in Tucson the prior weekend) – or make something completely new! There will even be a table set up during Festival day at the PAPA staging area where you can make masks and costumes; either bring your own materials, or supplies will be provided. Children are welcome and it’s all FREE! The procession will head out around dusk and travel down Grand Avenue. I have attached the PAPA application, but you can also register the day of the event.
Many other activities will take place during the day including the Grand Avenue Craft Fair (formerly Coffee, Cookies, and Crafts); the Untrashed Recycled Fashion Show and Trashy Hat Promenade; the Hanging Gardens and Woven Fences; the Politi-Art project; local bands, artist-designed planter tours; historic building tours; art exhibits; self-guided art studio tours; and more! There will be cash prizes, trophies and other unexpected prizes for the parade and fashion show winners. See the attached Calls for Entries.
